Rimrock Kia knows that informed drivers take better care of their vehicles. Paint scratches are a common occurrence, but many drivers don't realize how simple it is to repair a scratch themselves.

The first thing you'll need to do if your vehicle is scratched is to find the correct paint color. All vehicles have a factory color code to make it easier to find an exact color match. The color code will be listed near your VIN number, on the dashboard, in your owner's manual, on the vehicle's firewall or on the radiator's core support.

Once you find the correct color, you'll have to prepare your vehicle. Wash the surface you intend to paint with warm, soapy water. Use 220 grit sandpaper to rough up the paint around the scratches. Sand the area while it's still wet. If the scratch is shallow, you can apply the paint directly to the vehicle. Deeper scratches require a primer.
